Bidford Parish Council Update - February/March 26

PARISH COUNCIL
Thiscontinues to take place as part of the Bidford Village Market in the village centre on the first Saturday of the month. Two Councillors will be there from 9am – 1pm so please ensure you pay them a visit. Pop down and browse the excellent new stalls (especially if you are a foodie) and support local businesses.

The move to the Bidford Village Market  has proved to be very successful and Council hopes that by making itself more available, residents will take the opportunity of getting to know their Councillors and what the Parish Council does for its local community – as well as what it is not responsible for, though it can signpost to the appropriate party.

BIDFORD COMMUNITY FRIDGE – HELP REDUCE FOOD WASTE
This excellent community service is available at the Methodist Church Mondays, Tuesdays, Thursdays and Fridays: 10.30am – 11.30am and Wednesdays 5.30pm - 6.30pm.

COMMUNITY COFFEE SHOP
Open at the Community Fridge Mondays and Tuesdays from 10.30am-12.30pm to raise funds for the community fridge.

BIDFORD YOUTH INITIATIVE
For some time it has been recognised that, with the growth of the village and the arrival of young families, we need to provide opportunities to our young people to be able to meet in a safe and secure environment to chat, make friends and take part in organised activities. We are lucky that we have some excellent sports clubs offering football, cricket and tennis activities as well as "The Shack" who have been providing a youth club for a number of years on a Wednesday night.

Bidford Parish Council have put together a dedicated group of councillors, working with partners from the sporting community as well as The Shack together with Warwickshire County Council, to examine what form of youth provision is ideally suited to our youngsters.

It is an ongoing process, but our first stage is to put together a questionnaire that can be distributed through as many outlets as possible, so we can get a definitive view from those who will benefit, the youths themselves. I will update you as to our progress through further updates.

CITIZENS ADVICE SOUTH WARWICKSHIRE - BIDFORD OUTREACH
This valuable service to the community is available to all Bidford Parish residents on the first Thursday of the month from 10am – 1pm. The Outreach service they offer is from the Parish Council office situated in Bidford Community Library – the library is closed on Thursdays, so confidentiality is assured. If you need to make a booking, please call 0808 250 5715 / 0800 144 8848. This service is financially supported by the Parish Council to help its local community

WARWICKSHIRE ROAD SAFETY PARTNERSHIP (WRSP) CENTRAL REPORTING SYSTEM (CRS)
Speeding has always been a big concern for local communities which is recognised by the members of the WRSP, which includes County Council Highways, Warwickshire Police, and Warwickshire Fire & Rescue Service.

To address this concern, and to make it easier to report and manage, WRSP has set up a Central Reporting System and would encourage any concerned resident to report any speeding issue via this system, available on the website at warksspeedconcerns.org/.  This ensures all concerns are centralised and available to all parties for the appropriate action to be taken. You are now also able to see the Outcomesof the concerns raised.

ARTS AND CRAFTS SHOWCASE
After the great success of last year’s Bidford showcase we are proud to announce the date for our next event. On Saturday 21st March from 1.30pm-4pm we look forward to seeing you all at the school hall. If you are interested in having a display, please contact the Parish Clerk on 07718 628925 or email info@bidfordonavon-pc.gov.uk.

WARM HUB
This excellent community service takes place at the Crawford Memorial Hall every Wednesday from 10am–12pm, run by a team of hardworking volunteers dedicated to ensuring the wellbeing of residents. Now in its fourth year, a new service has been added; hot food is now available. So, if you are feeling lonely, need company and a bite to eat, go to the WARM HUB.

THE JOLLY TEAPOT
Open every Thursday from 10am – 11.30am at the Church Rooms (opposite St Laurence). Friendly volunteers will welcome you to tea and cakes and it is a great place to meet friends for a “natter”.

CONCERNS/ISSUES
