The Team at Your Call Magazine Volunteered for a Day at Spencer’s Retreat Farm!

Spencer’s Retreat was set up by The Langdale Trust to provide a peaceful countryside retreat for families and groups with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities and is situated in Spencer’s Lane, Berkswell.

The farm is offered on an Individual Access Basis. This means that the group visiting will be the only visitors, so it is never crowded or busy. The farm aims to be a calm, low stimulation but sensory environment to provide respite, recuperation and relaxation.

They have 6 acres of land and around 40 animals, play areas, indoor areas, a sensory garden and a sensory room, all of which need feeding, looking after and maintaining.

As this is Your Call Magazine’s 20^th year in business, the team wanted to give something back to the community by volunteering for a day at the farm. We had a wonderful day with the Animal Lead, Steve Lee, keeping us very busy! We painted some fence panels, cleared the allotment ready for replanting, weeded the paths and children’s play areas, cleaned signs and essential items, and cleared the horse field of manure.

Spencer’s Retreat are a small charity, and all their Trustees and staff are volunteers who give up their time to work for free. All donations go straight to running the charity. Your Call Magazine has also sent a donation. All donations are so very gratefully received.
