What’s Happening at Kenilworth Town Council?

Following the recent festive break, we are pleased to confirm the winner of our Christmas shop window competition was ‘It’s a dog’s world’, closely followed by Aquarius Interiors and the RSPCA.

Work on the new wayfinding project for Kenilworth is now well underway, and we expect that the new finger posts and visitor information monoliths should be in place in time for Easter and the beginning of the tourist season. Many residents have commented and given helpful feedback on the designs which we think will be informative, attractive and in keeping with the look and feel of the town.

The Town Council met on 12th January and considered some exciting new projects to be supported from the Community Infrastructure Levy (CIL) funds. This is a great opportunity to invest in the future of our town to support the whole community. Residents and community groups are very welcome to come forward with new ideas for projects. Details of how to apply can be found at www.kenilworthweb.co.uk/information/cil/.

The next stage of the new local plan for South Warwickshire (covering Warwick and Stratford districts) will be a public consultation on issues and options. This will take place from 9th January to 6th March. Full details of the consultation are available on the Local Plan website (www.southwarwickshire.org.uk/swlp/) and includes public meetings where residents can share their views. This plan will shape how Kenilworth develops for the next two decades, so please get involved!

The cost-of-living crisis is affecting us all. As happened during the pandemic, Kenilworth people are showing themselves to be caring and compassionate, and we hope that no-one will be hungry or cold through this difficult period. Kenilworth people and organisations including the service organisations (Lions, Rotary, Round Table and Soroptimists), churches, community groups, the Kenilworth Centre and Compassionate Kenilworth have all stepped up to provide support.
