Do You Have a Spare Room? Become a Supported Lodgings Host with Barnardo’s

If you have a spare room and some time to help, you could make a huge difference to a care leaver, helping them plan for the future, gain confidence, and learn the life skills they need to move onto independence.

Being a Supported Lodgings Host is a role that you can do alongside your current employment/commitments and in return receive a weekly payment (currently approx. £150) to cover the costs of hosting a young person.

Barnardo's are looking for Supported Lodgings Hosts, located in Coventry, Warwickshire and surrounding areas, who can provide this valuable accommodation option to young people, aged 16 to 21, who are transitioning from the care system to more independent living. It is family-based support with hosts offering emotional and practical support around key areas of independence such as managing on a budget, shopping, cooking, education and social skills to prepare them for moving onto independent living.

Hosts receive training provided by Barnardo’s and ongoing advice and guidance to support themselves and their young person.

If you would like more information please contact the service on 024 7637 2596, leave a message and a member of the team will get back to you, or email BSLmidlands@barnardos.org.uk.
