Because Your Life Counts

Because Your Life Counts (BYLC) is a road safety charity formed in early 2019, after spending just under two years carrying out Road Safety talks across the West Midlands and Warwickshire representing SmartLearner Driving School.

They are a locally based charity that aims to provide road safety information to young people and the general public. They do this by providing presentations on road safety at local schools and events.

These sessions are fun, interactive, informative, and hard-hitting. During these sessions, they use virtual reality goggles for people in attendance to witness a road traffic collision for themselves in a safe environment. The clip they use is the double award-winning Leicestershire Crash Car provided by TheIceHub. In addition to this, their road safety sessions include beer goggle activities and an informative presentation.

By providing these educational sessions they aim to help reduce the number of people that lose their lives needlessly every year due to road traffic collisions. They hope that providing interactive and educational sessions, that promote good road safety, will help influence the next generation of drivers to have a positive impact on our roads.

Since forming in 2019 they have visited many schools, universities, and events across the West Midlands and Warwickshire, in which they have educated young and upcoming drivers on the risks and dangers of inappropriate driving practices such as drink/drug driving.

They are always looking for volunteers with a passion for road safety or with first-hand experience to come along, tell their story, and help them achieve their goal of reducing road traffic collisions across the West Midlands and Warwickshire.
