Biford Parish Council - April/May 24

  • Big Meadow – the Parish Council is working with an independent party, specialising in Public Open Spaces (Leaves of Green) to look at improving the facilities of the Big Meadow for both residents and visitors.  It will be looking at short, medium and long term improvements.
The Council is also planning to extend the toilet block.  However, this will be subject to a successful Planning Application followed by a Tender and this will take time.  So for Summer 2024, portaloos will be used.
A temporary noticeboard has been fixed to the entrance hut and Council will post progress of the project.
A consultation will be taking place to give the local community the opportunity of commenting on the proposed improvements
  • St Laurence Public Open Space (by Lambourne Close)
The area, which was transferred to the Parish Council in 2023, has now been cleared of brambles and other scrub.
The cleared area to the west will be seeded and the Parish Council has submitted an application for 15/20 fruit trees to be planted.
There will be an “in situ” consultation with near neighbours to consider the best outcome for this site. A temporary noticeboard has been installed on the southwest corner to advise residents of progress being made.

This is now operative from the Methodist Church on Mondays and Thursdays 10.30am – 11.30am. This may be extended – so please check social media for updates. The Community Fridge is open to everyone, not just those in need.  It is about stopping good food from being thrown away.  However, you are free to donate to the Bidford Community Fridge should you so wish.

The aim of this new community project is “No Waste”, making food, that would  otherwise go to landfill, available to local residents.
